10 Tips For Google Image Search

Google Image Search could be used in many ways.

1. If you want to know if a person is a man or a woman and the name doesn't help, do a search for the name.

2. If you don't know the meaning of a word, the pictures may help you.

3. A better search for Flickr. Google uses information from other sites that link to Flickr photos, so you may find Google search better.

4. Find what's interesting about a site, by looking at the pictures included. For example: wired.com.

5. Find a new wallpaper for your desktop by restricting your search to large images. You can automate this using an application.

6. Find random personal pictures, using standard file names from digital cameras.

7. Type the name of a painter and you can take an art class.

8. Install a Greasemonkey script so you can view the original version of the image directly by clicking on the thumbnail.

9. Find the color of a word. "Word Color is a windows program that uses Google Image Search to determine the color of a word or string of words. It goes out there, retrieves the top 9 images and loops through all pixels, calculating the average hue, which is later converted to a color."

10. If you want to grab search results, GoogleGrab is a tool that downloads images from Google Image Search. It even supports batch search

10 Tech Wars of 2010

Technology can make your life easy or difficult, depending on your perspective. History has shown that difference of perspectives can grow huge and sometimes even lead to wars. The tech battles mentioned here do not involve fist-fights and explosive ammo, their weapons are legal reasoning, public support and user dependencies. Here are some of the biggest tussles of the tech industry in 2010:

Tech Wara

1. Google vs. China:

To put it simply, China wants Google to censor search results but Google isn’t ready to. They say they would rather leave their $600 Million annual revenue coming from China than compromise on freedom of speech. China doesn’t seem to care and it is probable that Google will exit from China, but it’s not over till it’s over!

2. Android vs. iPhone:

There are other smart phones too but these two are the giants and want to take each other out. We have already seen lawsuits from Apple targeting HTC, the main manufacturer of Google’s Android based phones. So, even though it is a fight between two smart phones, it becomes very serious because of the companies behind them, Google and Apple.

3. iPad vs. Kindle:

Kindle was released quietly a couple of years ago and has gained a solid ground in the e-reader market. The iPad was launched with a lot of hype which turned into a let down for users. Launching soon, iPad will directly take on the Kindle and with both allowing third-party apps, the competition will be tough.

4. Flash vs. HTML5:

HTML5 slowly crept into many platforms this year and threatens to take over Flash. Adobe is naturally angry and heated arguments are ensuing all over between the advocates of HTML5 and that of Flash. Within next few months the picture might get a little clearer as to where Flash stands vs. the new technology. Specially with Apple shunning Flash from its upcoming iPads, Flash better get its act together to stay in the game.

5. FourSquare vs. Gowalla:

2009 saw a new breed of location based social networks. Top two players are FourSqaure and Gowalla and they are fighting it out pretty aggressively. When Gowalla launched an updated iPhone app, FourSqaure didn’t take many days to follow path.

6. PayPal vs. AliPay:

The parent companies of these two, eBay and AliBaba, fought it out a few years ago and AliBaba beat eBay hands down when it came to the Chinese market. Now, PayPal is trying to get a stronghold in the Asian market but it is up against the already established AliPay.

7. Battle of the Browsers:

Mozilla and Google are fiercely after cutting down Internet Explorers long established market share and they are coming pretty close. Google doesn’t care if somebody uses Firefox or Chrome (it supports both), all they want is Internet Explorer to disappear. A massive campaign was launched recently against IE6 but Microsoft’s latest browser IE8 seems to be pretty tough when it comes to security features.

8. Google Docs vs. Microsoft Office:

Google Docs was quickly adopted because of its Cloud based technology but with Microsoft also moving towards the cloud and a lot of third party add-ons available to the desktop based Microsoft Office, the competition is far from over.

9. YouTube vs. Viacom:

This one is not a true war of technologies but its outcome may change the online video industry forever. The case is going on in the court right now. Expect to hear some historical decisions within the next couple of months.

10. Appstore vs. Developers:

Apple has been notorious about its vague and ridiculous app store policies. Developers hate it, but as of yet they can’t seem to do anything about it. IPhone app store is still a pot of gold that want to get a chunk of. Will this change in the next few months? May be.

What do you think will be the outcome of each of these? What other tech wars can you think of that are going on in the current year?

Tutorial : How to create CON folder in windows XP

Tutorial : How to create CON folder in windows XP
Hello guys...

Many ppl dont know that they cannot create "CON" folder in windows. (Type 1)

Some ppl dont know why they cant create it? (Type 2)

Very few know that they can still create it someway.. but donno why are they supposed to do exactly like that..(Type 3)

Now, After reading this tutorial, you will become one of the rest
__________________________________________________ _________________________

Type 1 :

Try out creating a folder named CON or LPT or COM1

Now, you have become Type 2 category.
__________________________________________________ _________________________

Type 2 :

Not only CON, we cannot create any of these
CON, PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, LPT9 and more

The reason is that con, prn, lpt1..lpt9, etc are underlying devices from the time dos was written. so if u r allowed to create such folders, there will be an ambiguity in where to write data when the data is supposed to go to the specified devices. In other words, if i want to print something, internally what windows does is -- it will write the data to the folder prn (virtually u can call it a folder, i mean prn, con, etc are virtual folders in device level). So if we are able to create con folder, windows will get confused where to write the data, to virtual con folder or real one.

So Now, Try this...

Open the Command prompt by Start -> Run and typing cmd

Code:
C:\> md \\.\c:\con
Now, Open My Computer and browse through the path where you created CON folder... Surprising.. ?? Yeah.. you have created it successfully

Now, try to delete the folder from My computer

OOPS!!! You cant delete it...

Now, try this in command prompt console

Code:
C:\> rd \\.\c:\con
Yeah!! You did it...
__________________________________________________ __________________________

Type 3 :

Well, let us now have a glance at how we were able to create it...

It is just because of the UNC Path (Universal Naming Convention) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The Universal Naming Convention, or UNC, specifies a common syntax to describe the location of a network resource, such as a shared file, directory, or printer.Since, these conventions did n't exist under pure DOS, they are not backward compatible. The UNC syntax for Windows systems is as follows..

\\RemoteHost\sharedfolder\resource

where RemoteHost is the computer name / IP address of the computer that you wish to connect through remotely for accessing shared folder. The rest is the path.

(Here \\remotehost\drive:\con doesn't make sense anyway, because without having a process on the remote host, there is no current 'console'). It would be a security hazard as well, having the serial and parallel ports accessible for everyone who is allowed to read or write in any single directory.

The "." in the command \\.\c:\con suggest the local server. Now, you are pointing to your own computer. since, you have all privilages on every folder of ur computer, you can easily create it.

Type 4 :

Ofcourse, Now, u r of type 4. What else i can say :/

TOP TEN FIGHTER PLANES

f15cChoosing the top fighter planes across the world till date is a highly debatable topic and there can be innumerable arguments on any list one can make. Some rank them based on their impact on a war, some rank them based on their maneuverability and attacking capability, some list them based on the technology and some lists are biased on their nationality. Here I have tried to be as un-biased as possible and made a list of top 10 fighter planes. Have a look at these beautiful killers.

1. F-22 Raptor

lockheed_martin_f-22a_raptor
This is probably the best fighter plane ever made. It is a fifth generation fighter aircraft that utilizes fourth generation Stealth Technology. It was designed as an air superiority fighter for use against Soviet Air Force but is also equipped with ground attack, electronic warfare and signals intelligence roles as well. Raptor combines stealth, speed, agility, precision and situational awareness with air-to-air and air-to-ground combat capabilities, makes it the best overall fighter in the world.

2. P51 Mustang

p51_mustang_wairarapa
It was a long-range single seat fighter aircraft that came up to operation in the year 1941 during World War II serving as a bomber escort in raids over Germany. It was a fast, well made and highly durable aircraft and also very economical to produce. American Mustangs destroyed 4,950 enemy aircraft in Europe to make them the highest scoring US fighter in the theater.

3. The Supermarine Spitfire

spitfire
This is the most famous fighter design in the history of military aviation. It was a single seat fighter aircraft used by the Royal Air Force and many other Allied countries during the second world war. There are many variants of the Spitfire with a total production of more than 20,000 aircrafts. It was meant to last the whole length of the war and it did so. It engaged anything from fighters to bombers and even interception of German V-1 flying bombs.

4. Mig 21

air_mig_21
It is a supersonic fighter jet built by Soviet Union. The MiG-21F, a continuation of Soviet jet fighters MiG-15, 17 and 19, is a short-range day fighter-interceptor and the first major production version of the popular MiG-21 series. It is one of around 15 versions of this aircraft that have served in the air arms of more than 50 nations around the world.

5. The Focke-Wulf Fw 190

focke-wulf
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Würger, was a German single-seat, single-engine fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank in the late 1930s. It became the best fighter plane of Germany during World War II. Over 20,000 were manufactured, including around 6,000 fighter-bomber models. Many experts put this plane’s capabilities at par with the American P-51 Mustang.

6. F 18 Super Hornet

f-18-super-hornet
It is a Supersonic carrier-capable fighter aircraft. There is a single-seat variant as well as a tandem-seat variant which is larger and more advanced derivatives of the F/A-18C and D Hornet. The Super Hornet has an internal 20 mm gun and can carry air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface weapons. Additional fuel can be carried with up to five external fuel tanks and the aircraft can be configured as an airborne tanker by adding an external air refueling system. It is used by the US Navy since 1992.

7. Messerschmitt Bf 109

messerschmitt_bf_109
Originally conceived as an interceptor, it was later developed to fulfill multiple tasks, serving as bomber escort, fighter bomber, day-, night- all-weather fighter, bomber destroyer, ground-attack aircraft, and as reconnaissance aircraft. Features as an all-metal monocoque construction, a closed canopy, and retractable landing gear, made this one of the first true modern fighters of the era. A total of 33,984 units were produced up to April 1945 accounting for 47% of all German aircraft production, as well as 57% of all German fighter types produced.

8. F 86 Sabre

north_american_f86
The North American Aviation F-86 Sabre was a transonic jet fighter aircraft. The Sabre is best known for its Korean War role where it was pitted against the Soviet MiG-15 and obtained UN air superiority in the 40’s. Its success led to an extended production run of over 7,800 aircraft between 1949 and 1956, in the United States, Japan and Italy. It was by far the most-produced Western jet fighter, with total production of all variants at 9,860 units.

9. F-4 Phantom II

f-4_phantom_ii_in_flying
Generally regarded as one of the best military aircraft designs ever, the F-4 Phantom II is - at the very least - the pinnacle of Cold War fighter design on any level. The mammoth aircraft proved effective in the Vietnam Conflict as interceptor, strike fighter and reconnaissance platform. The system was also the first aircraft in the history of the United States military to fly with the USAF, USN and USMC at the same time.

10. Sea Harrier II

seaharrier
This is a British designed military jet aircraft capable of Vertical/Short takeoff and landing via its thrust vectoring. There are many variations of this unique design. It is a capable fighter armed with canons and several varieties of air-to-air missiles. While the Harrier is one of the most flexible aircraft ever made, the level of understanding and skill needed to pilot it is considerable

Twitter and Facebook on Your Desktop Using Mixero

I am not a big fan of Adobe Air apps, Mozilla Prism or Google Chrome app shortcuts. These frameworks allow you to run web applications on your PC’s desktop like other applications. I like web applications to stay in the browser. However, I can be tempted away from the browser occasionally.

Mixero is an Adobe Air application that brings Twitter and Facebook to your PC, Mac or iPhone desktop. It offers speed, plenty of functions and lots of ways to filter the content. It really is pretty amazing. Take a look at this video showing off the features of Mixero.

If you can’t see this video – click here.

As I said earlier, I don’t normally like web apps running on my desktop, but Mixero is very tempting. So far, the only way I’ve been able to mix up Twitter and Facebook is by using Brizzly.com. It’s a good alternative if you decide you definitely want to stay inside your web browser. In the mean time, I’ll keep Mixero awhile to see how much use I get from it.

NVIDIA App Brings 3D Gaming to Your TV

Are you excited to start gaming in 3D? NVIDIA wants to show you how awesome 3D video games and movies can be, and it has teamed up with Panasonic for a US-wide road tour to showcase the latest in 3D home theater technology. As part of the tour, you'll be able to test out PCs running NVIDIA's 3DTV Play software with Panasonic's 3D HDTVs and shutter glasses (what a mouthful!).
3DTV Play lets you play 3D games or watch 3D video from your PC, and it works with compatible GeForce GPUs, over 400 games out of the box, and supports 3D TVs with HDMI 1.4, with resolutions up to 1080p at 24 frames per second. 3DTV Play isn't just for gaming; it lets you watch 3D movies, view 3D images, and even browse 3D Web sites. There's no release date yet for the app, but NVIDIA says it'll be "available later this spring" for $39.99. However, if you're an NVIDIA 3D Vision owner, the software's free.
While current PCs with NVIDIA GeForce cards will support 3DTV Play, 3D gaming requires twice the frameratw of 2D gaming, so newer, faster machines will provide the best experience for 3D. An NVIDIA rep told Gizmodo that the demo rigs used for some press previews were "inside a 3.5-foot-tall tower with a plexiglass side to show off the water cooling inside," which I can only guess will not be cheap.
Want to catch the NVIDIA/Panasonic tour? They'll be in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago through March 17, and at a dozen other cities after that. Specific locations and dates are available at Touch the Future. Did you get a chance to try World of Warcraft in 3D on the tour?

Google Exit Would Open a Door for Microsoft

If Google Inc. decides to close the door on its search engine in China, it might open a door for Microsoft Corp.

The software giant's Bing search engine is among the potential beneficiaries if Google goes ahead with its threat to close its Google.cn site amid a dispute with the Chinese government over censorship.

Although Bing has struggled to gain traction in China, Microsoft has already hired away at least three people from Google's China business, after aggressively pursuing them following Google's threat, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Reuters

Google's threat to close its Chinese search engine gives Microsoft an opportunity to push Bing.

In the wake of Google's announcement, Microsoft's leaders, including Chief Executive Steve Ballmer and Chairman Bill Gates, have said they intend to remain in China and will continue to comply with local regulations, which means filtering out certain political content and other sensitive material.

A Microsoft spokesman said the company will compete in whatever markets it is in, including China. "If we do a great job with the product, then we will hopefully attract more share," he said.

Microsoft needs Beijing's cooperation on combating rampant software piracy in China, which has hobbled sales in the country of the company's two big profit machines: Windows and Office.

Yet Microsoft could face political heat in the U.S. for appearing too eager to fill Google's void, groups that focus on human rights say.

The fate of the Google.cn site has been clouded since January. Google, citing Beijing's tightening limits on expression and a series of cyber attacks on it and other foreign companies, said it would no longer filter search results on the site. That move set off private negotiations with Chinese officials, which the company said are continuing.

A Google spokesman on Monday said the company was "in active discussions with the Chinese government."

Google.cn still appeared to be accessible on Monday, and search-engine results continued to be filtered. A person familiar with Google's plans said the company hasn't yet changed its approach to filtering.

A closure of Google.cn wouldn't necessarily spell the end of the company's business in China. On Monday, the company's chief financial officer, Patrick Pichette, said Google's Android mobile operating system "should flourish" in China. He noted that Android is open-source software available to a variety of partners and should do well in that country.

If Google.cn closes, some of its existing traffic could shift to Google.com servers run outside of China, assuming that the government doesn't block all access to the site. Currently, Chinese users can access Google.com, although searches for certain sensitive terms return just error messages.

Google accounts for about 36% of search revenue in China, with Baidu Inc. holding 58%, according to Analysys International. On Monday, Baidu shares gained 4.8% in trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market, closing at $576.84. Shares in Google slipped 2.8%, closing at $563.18.

Microsoft, meanwhile, has been gaining a bit of ground on Google in the search market outside China. Since the company unveiled Bing last May, the company's share of searches conducted in the U.S. has risen from 8% to 11.5% in February, according to research company comScore Inc. Google's share went from 65% to 65.5% over that period, the research firm said.

In China, however, Microsoft has made little headway. Microsoft launched cn.Bing.com in June, but it doesn't show up on the Analysys ranking of search-engine revenue in the country as of the fourth quarter—meaning it has less than 1% of the market, according to the researcher.

Among the hurdles that Microsoft has faced as it tries to build up its search business in China is the Bing name itself. The word "bing" means sick, cold or pancake in Chinese, depending on the tone with which the word is pronounced. Microsoft changed the name to "bi ying," which means must respond.

As part of efforts to expand in China, Motorola Inc. last week announced a deal with Microsoft to include Bing on the cellphones Motorola sells in China, which run on Google's software.

Regarding the issue of censorship, Microsoft would be "rather rash" if it didn't learn from Google's experience in China, said Sharon Hom, the executive director of the New York-based Human Rights in China.

"It should have a full answer to how it will address the very well-known risks," she said. "They cannot just say we are here and have to abide by the local law."

Chinese authorities on Friday told local news Web sites that Google's Chinese site is likely to close and that, if it does, the news sites will be required to use only official accounts of the situation, rather than publish stories from anywhere else, according to a person familiar with the order.

Several of Google's Chinese partners say they're preparing for the possible closing, but say it isn't likely to shake up the market.

The director of public relations at Sina.com, a Web portal that is one of China's most popular sites, said he doesn't expect the closure of Google.cn would have a significant impact on his own business.

Sina features a Google search bar at the top of its home page, which leads users to Google.cn. But the spokesman said only a small portion of its revenue comes from Web search, and in addition, Sina has its own search engine called iask.

Closure of Google.cn "will have an impact on our business, but the impact won't be big," said Xing Ming, chief executive of Google partner Tianya, a popular online forum in which Google owns a stake. "We will continue to move forward," he said, adding, "I believe that Google will take responsibility for its partners and customers."

This model also has a 200 mph (320 km/h) top speed, but a slightly improved acceleration, of 4.6 seconds from 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h).

8 - Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren "722 Edition"

It's enough to say Mercedes to think of great cars and German technical perfection, but when adding the name McLaren, which requires no further presentation, you can be sure that the outcome can only be a superb car. She has a 650 hp, 5.5 liter V8 engine, a 209 mph top speed and gets from 0 to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds.

7 - Lamborghini Murcielago LP640

Lamborghini was the supreme supercar of the 90s with the now classical and forever great Diablo. The new Murcielago in this limited edition can only be the proud successor of a true legend. It has a 6.5 L version of the legendary Lamborghini V12 engine, 640 hp and a top speed of 211 mph (339 km/h), with a 0-60 mph acceleration of 3.5 s

6 - Pagani Zonda C12 F

A not so famous car, produced by Argentinan car manufacturer Pagani in Italy, again, but lacking a long history behind the brand name, but a truly magnificent piece of work, having a 600 hp engine and a 3.5 second sprint to 62 mph (97 km/h), with a top speed over 217 mph (350 km/h).

5 - Bristol Fighter T

An even more anonymous car was produced in small numbers in 2004 by British manufacturer Bristol Cars. She's a huge rocket, having a V10 engine producing 1012 hp and huge 1036 lb ft of torque, with 225 mph + top speed (+362 km/h). Fighter T gets from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds.

4 ? McLaren F1

The brand name says it all. What it doesn't say is that it was conceived as an exercise in creating what its designers hoped would be considered the ultimate road car. She's strange looking, having the driver's seat mounted in the center and two passenger seats on each side, but to the back. She was the fastest production car ever built (having achieved a top speed of 240.14 mph, 386.5 km/h) until surpassed in 2005 by the Koenigsegg CCR and then the Bugatti Veyron a few months later.

3 - Koenigsegg CCR

The second latest supercar form the Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg, she has a 4.7 L twin supercharged DOHC V8 engine, 806 hp, a 0-60 mph acceleration of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 251 mph (403 km/h)

2 - Bugatti EB 16/4 Veyron

Bugatti EB 16-4 Veyron V
Enlarge picture
Many people think this monster is still the fastest, most powerful and most expensive street-legal production car in the world. Indeed, she has a proven top speed of 253.2 mph (407.9 km/h). Built by the German carmaker Volkswagen through its subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS, in France, it represents almost 70 years or racing history, with the Bugatti cars ruling the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours competition in the 1930s and 1940s. She has a monster of an engine, too, a 8.0 L quad-turbo W16 that puts out a massive 1001 hp of thrust.

1 - Barabus TKR

Few people know this, but this is now the fastest car ever made, having dethroned the Bugatti beast. The name is not to be confused with the German tuner Brabus, as she's built by the British company Barabus Sportscars Ltd and will be produced in Italy. She has 1005 horsepower, it can do 0 to 60 mph (0-100 km/h) in...unbelievably...1.67 seconds (manufacturer's results). And, surprisingly, this power doesn't come from a huge engine, but rather from a "small" 6.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged with dual intercoolers.

This declared speed is impressive and some people think that such a figure is not even possible: 270 mph (435km/h), nearly 20 more than the Veyron.

So, this top is a picture of today's most outstanding performances in the field of car engineering, but no one knows when the next "road-runner" will be made and how fast it will travel without taking off.

.Com Domains Celebrates A Silver Jubilee

The internet is a mix of top level domains (TLD), however, the first of the lot were .com domains. Most of the sites have a .com TLD, however, today is more special for .com, since it has completed a silver jubilee and has been in existence for 25 years now.

.Com domains were first launched on March 15th 1985 when Symbolics computers of Cambridge registered the first domain symbolics.com. That domain was followed by BBN.com and think.com which is now owned by Oracle and redirects to thinkquest.org.

Interestingly the .com Domains were actually implemented in January 1985, however, we can’t blame people back then to give it more than 2 months before they could actually start booking the domains.

Today, getting a decent .com domain is a far fetched idea, and most of the lucrative ones are already in use, however there have been several new TLDs which have sprung up in the meantime including .org and .net. There are also several TLDs which are country specific too.

Here is wishing .Com a Happy Silver Jubilee, we too are a .Com and are proud to be part of it.

Hosting Pakistani Flag and burning Indian Flag

A Kashmiri separatist leader burning the Indian FlagIndian Flag Burnt in Srinagar

Shame on Indian govtand Media also for not making it Breaking News
The only country of the world, where one can dare to burn the national flag..

All these become the masalabreaking news of Indian news channels:*

If Tendulkar cuts the cake which is made to look like national flag, he is condemned.*

If Mandira Bedi wears a saree with the flags of all the countries being portrayed on that, is made to apologies.*

If one cop in Kolkata and one in Bangalore is terminated of his duties for throwing the Indian national flag on ground, by mistake. Then why double standards:*
During the ongoing Amarnath Sangarsh, Jammuites holding the Indian National Flag and chanting 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' are open fired by the J&K Police on orders from the Police Commissioner(belongs to kashmir). Peaceful protesters are killed..*

Like in case of Amarnath case, people in Kashmirwhen want to get some demand fulfilled, protest by burning Indian national Flag, hosting Pakistani Flag and chanting 'Hindustan Murdabad, Pakistan Jindabad'. But no body condemns. Infact, all such protest are followed by a team of union ministers visiting Kashmir and immediately sanctioning a few thousand crore rupees for Kashmiris.* Every year on 14th Aug (Pakistani Indipendence Day), Pakistani flag is hosted every where in Kashmir , including the govt. buildings and on 15th Aug, same people burn the Indian flag. This only happens in India !!!!just see d pictures aboveReally shame on indian media who never showsthese pics.........shame shame shame ! If These Are Breaking News.....
